Atlantic Gateway, No Deviation: LISNAVE Portugal
LISNAVE in Setubal, Portugal, operates six drydocks covering all vessel types up to ULCC size, positioned at the Atlantic gateway to the Mediterranean. For vessels trading on transatlantic and North-South Atlantic routes, Setubal provides direct yard access with significantly lower deviation costs than routing east into the Mediterranean. Resolute Maritime Services is the exclusive representative of LISNAVE in Greece.
Location and Atlantic Trade Routes
LISNAVE's Mitrana Yard sits on the Atlantic seaboard, one kilometre from the open ocean at Setubal, south of Lisbon. For vessels operating on North Atlantic, transatlantic, West Africa and North-South Atlantic trade routes, this position eliminates the fuel and schedule costs of diverting to Mediterranean repair facilities.
Deviation cost and time are direct inputs to repair planning decisions. For Atlantic-trading tonnage, Setubal's location is a commercially relevant differentiator that affects the overall economics of a repair call.
Drydock Capacity
Six drydocks accommodate the full range of commercial vessel sizes, from Handysize bulk carriers to ULCC tankers:
- Drydock 10: 470m x 75m, draft 4.6m
- Drydock 21: 450m x 75m, draft 7.6m
- Drydock 22: 350m x 55m, draft 9.6m
- Drydock 31: 280m x 39m, draft 9.1m
- Drydock 32: 280m x 29m, draft 6.1m
- Drydock 33: 280m x 39m, draft 6.1m
The availability of multiple large docks supports scheduling flexibility and is ideal for parallel scheduling for fleet operators managing several vessels in proximity to the Atlantic corridor.
Specialist Repair Capability
LISNAVE has built documented experience in LNG carrier repairs and DP shuttle tanker maintenance alongside standard class drydocking services across all major vessel types, including tankers, bulk carriers, containerships and specialised vessels.
Tank cleaning and gas freeing services are provided through a dedicated station owned by Eco-oil, located adjacent to the yard. This station includes a land-based tank cleaning facility, reception for slops and contaminated water, and mooring capacity for vessels with up to 7m draft.
Lifting Equipment and Infrastructure
Lifting capacity across the yard includes 20 travelling cranes rated up to 100t over drydocks and berths, supplemented by one Gantry Crane rated at 500t over Docks 20 and 21. Alongside repair capability is supported by 15t cranes and one 40t crane at berth 0.This heavy-lift capability supports structural and module work that would otherwise require specialised subcontracting.
Covered workshop space of 2,800 square metres includes a machine shop, pipe and plate shop, and auxiliary facilities for carpentry, rigging and scaffolding. In-house capacity at this scale reduces external contractor dependency and supports predictable project execution.
Capital Investment and Operational Standards
LISNAVE has maintained active capital investment in its facilities, workshops and specialised repair infrastructure. The yard holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and operates a comprehensive accredited Health and Safety system, meeting the standards expected by major classification societies and international vessel operators.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is LISNAVE's location relevant for Greek-managed fleets?
Greek-managed fleets include a significant volume of vessels trading on transatlantic, West Africa and North-South Atlantic routes. For these vessels, Setubal's Atlantic position reduces deviation time and fuel cost compared to Mediterranean yards. This makes LISNAVE a commercially competitive repair option when the vessel's trading pattern already brings it into the Atlantic basin.
What vessel sizes does LISNAVE accommodate?
LISNAVE's six drydocks cover vessels up to ULCC size. Draft capacities range from 4.6m to 9.6m depending on the dock selected. Simultaneous scheduling across multiple docks is possible, supporting fleet operators managing parallel repair programmes.
Does LISNAVE have experience with LNG and complex vessel repairs?
Yes. LISNAVE has established experience in LNG carrier and DP shuttle tanker repairs/maintenance, alongside standard class drydocking surveys for tankers, bulk carriers and containerships. The yard's infrastructure and specialist contractor base support complex multi-scope projects in addition to routine class work.
